Southern Consortium of University Public Service Organizations (SCUPSO)

Southern Growth Policies Board has partnered with the Southern Consortium of University Public Service Organizations (SCUPSO) to improve the quality of policy-making and government management in the region. Organized in 1979, SCUPSO supports university-based public service institutes in their efforts to assist state and local governments on a range of contemporary issues through networking, information exchange, and collaboration among its 40 member institutions. Southern Growth and SCUPSO collaborate to produce toolkits, publications and teaching aids that are used by SCUPSO member institutions in providing training and counsel to more than 35,000 local, state and regional government and nonprofit leaders each year.

SCUPSO’s 2009-2010 Officers are:

  • President: Don-Terry Veal, Director, Center for Governmental Services, Auburn University
  • Vice President: Mark Weinberg, Director, Voinovich School of Leadership and Public Affairs, Ohio University
  • Treasurer: Andy Felts, Director, Joseph P. Riley, Jr., Institute for Urban Affairs and Policy Studies, College of Charleston
